Went here for a quick bite for lunch with a sales. Forgot my camera, these pictures were taken by my iphone.

Mixed Bowl ($5.50)

Teriyaki Chicken, sukiyaki beef, vegetable, rice.
Sukiyaki beef was so salty.

Spicy Yellow Tail Hand Roll ($2.50)

Couple pieces of big yellow tail sashimi with spicy sauce, it's really good. I liked this hand roll.

Katana Set ($4.99)

2 pieces of sushi (one salmon and one shrimp), 2 pieces of california rolls, teriyaki chicken, rice & salad, served with miso soup.
They have these 3 value meal sets usually run from $6.55-$7.80 but now all $4.99 and all served with miso soup.
cali roll was just ok, salad is terrible, good dressing though. Chicken was very tender and good but the teriyaki sauce was terrible again. 2 sashimi sushi came with it were just ok. salmon wasn't really fresh enough.

If wasn't for sales friend wanted to come to this place, I wouldn't even consider eating in sushiboy.

This place has the best fish and shrimp tacos in the area.

It's always packed, especially on fridays.

Even we called ahead to order for to go, still waited there for about 20-30 mins.

There's small salsa bar station, the line was long too.

Shrimp Taco Combo ($7.50)

All tacos come with shredded cabbage, cilantro, tomato and cream sauce. Each taco has 3 giant battered deep fried shrimps, their cream sauce makes their tacos so delicious. It will also come with 2 sides, one is rice. The rice tasted ok to me but it tasted better when i added some salsa in it.

BBQ Beans

Also comes with this BBQ beans. This side dish tasted ok to me as well. Not really big fan of beans any way.

The salsa I had to get in line for like 20 mins to get

Their salsa bar has 2 kinds of salsa. tartar sauce for fish, cocktail sauce for shrimp and sliced lemons. Their salsa is very good to go with their tacos and the rice.

Giant Shrimp Taco

I really think they have the best fish and shrimp tacos in the area and I think they have other locations if you check online.

Came to this dim sum place with Ken and his wife Hanae. This my first time visiting here but I've heard about this place for some time! I knew the place always packed and have to wait for long time and we did wait for at least 40 mins to get our table even we came before 11am on sunday.

All dim sum dishes are $1.99/item on mondays to fridays, $2.39/item on weekends.

Place was packed!

Steamed Chicken Feet

Deep Fried Chicken Wings

This dish was not good at all. It has no flavor even it just came out the kitchen, hot and fresh but they didn't add enough pepper salt on them. Didn't like it at all.

Pork Sui Mai

Sui mai was very good.

Steamed Spare Ribs

Steamed Fish Dumplings with Eggplants

This dish was cold.

Stew Beef Offal

This one just ok. Didn't cook long enough, it's too chewy for my taste.

Preserved Eggs w/Pork Porridge

We all liked this porridge a lot. It's hot and had very good flavor and the rice already cooked so long, it's sort of creamy.

Steamed Beef Tendons

The tendon was very good. Tender and the sauce gave it sort of sweet flavor.

Beef Rice Noodles

I always get shrimp rice noodles but they were out of shrimp ones so we got beef ones instead. Surprisely, it was very good. We all liked this dish a lot and think it was the best dish for the day!

Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce

Don't know why but always have to get at least one veggie dish in chinese restaurants. It was just ok, not too good, not too bad. Just felt like to have some veggies to go along with all the fatty dishes :)-
Didn't really crazy about their dim sum, and the waiting time was too long for me. If you have a lot of time on hand and don't mind waiting, it's a ok place to go for dim sum.

Tamaleria is a small mexican restaurant runs by Miguel y Maria Aguilar family. It's 2nd generation now. They have good tamales, mexican style breakfast dishes and tortas. They only serve birria, pozole and menudo on the weekends.

Business seems slow these days no matter where I go.

Salsa, limes, chopped onions & cilantros.

All soups come with these 3 complements.

Tortillas.

All dishes also serve with these fresh handmade tortillas.

Birria ($8.12)

Big chunks of lambs cook for hours! It's tender and just forkmelting. You can also make lamb tacos by using the tortillas they serve with all those complements. Some sort of one dish 2 ways to eat. The soup tastes a bit spicy to my taste but not too spicy. It's good and not greasy or oily at all.

Menudo ($7.04)

Tons of big chunks of menudos in the soup. You can tell it's been cooking for hours. All tastes very tender but still have those bite-textures in it.

Also a big piece of bata (pork feet) in the bowl. The bata was very tender as well. You really can taste it's been cooking for hours!

I have tried so many menudo places and I really think this place has the best menudo and birra so far. Their tamales are also very good too.

I past this place awhile ago and saw that giant sign of "Taiwan Food" out side of their door that made me wanted to try it.

It's very slow on friday night. The woman sat by herself, just scream all of sudden because she saw a bug in her soup, and later said oh, it's ok, not a problem. That guy with hat came later and ordered some to go food but also asked for a stinky deep fried tofu and a soup to eat in the store but just kept complaining about the service and how slow they were but as I could see, they were doing so fast to serve the food and everything. What a weird night!!!

Sticky Rice Roll 糯米大腸 ($4.25)

I love this food since I was a kid in Taiwan and every place I go if they got this dish, I always have to get it. I can tell it's hand made sticky rice roll here, didn't ask if they made it themselves or they bought it from somewhere but it's good and I loved it.

Pork Chow Mein 肉絲炒麵 ($5.25)

They has me if I wanted thin or thick noodles and I picked thick one. This chow mein was very good.

Lamb Cooked in Herbal Soup 岡山羊肉湯 ($4.75)
I couldn't help and notice they have this soup on their menu and I had to give it a try since I was born and grew up from south of Taiwan and we all loved this soup back in Taiwan. The soup was light and good but I wasn't sure if they added too much herbs or they let it sat too long, the broth tasted a bit bitter. The lamb was actually tender and ginger gave it a good flavor.

Deep Fried Porkchop with Rice 炸排骨飯($5.25)

The porkchop looked dry but it was actually good and juicy. But the other sides were just so so. The veggie was a little bit cold. The stewed tofu and egg had good flavor but they didn't put any sauce on the rice, it was so dry I had to ask them to put some sauce on the rice.

This place isn't the best traditional taiwanese food in LA but they did contain some flavor that will bring back some memories when you taste some of their dishes. I'll go back again to try others and my sticky rice roll for sure.

We came here to have dinner for Lynn's birthday! Her birthday is actually 3/28/09 on Saturday, but she'll have to meet with her kids/family on her birthday, therefore, I threw her a small dinner gathering party on Thursday night with 2 of our other friends! One of Lynn's and my friend used to own this place but it was history now. They have dim-sum daily too!

Thursday night was a bit slow for them, we were there from 6pm to almost 8:3-pm, and they had total about 5 tables of customers only!
Our B-Day Lady--Lynn!
Lynn was my boss from our previous job for about a year, we worked in a same company about 3 years ago. She left the company first and I left later. We've became such good friends ever since we met at work. She's like my sister and always look out for me. She's been such good friend and sister.
I asked her if I could reveal her age on here but she said no :)-
If you all know her age, I think you guys would be surprised ^_^.
Crab Meat w/Fish Monk Soup ($6.95)
This is on their special table menu that night! The regular price is $11.00.

You can see big chunk of crab & fish monk fish meats in it.

Tasted even better with red vinegar & white pepper powder.
Peking Duck ($16.99)

They serve this duck in 2 dishes, this is first one came out, they sliced the skin out of the roasted duck and served with chinese steam buns and green onion beneath and shrimp flavor chips with sauce on the side!

Yummy, duck skin is very crispy, not fat or oil at all. the sauce and the green onion add the good flavor in it.

This is the 2nd dish out of that Peking Duck we order. The meat was very tender and juicy, it's not greasy or oily at all. We all liked it a lot!
Snow Pea Leaves w/Garlic ($14.50)

Always have to have veggies on the table, right? Well, Lynn picked this dish and it was so good, it's the only dish we almost finished, we ordered too much food :)-
Seafood and Bean Curd Clay Pot (US$10.75)

This one has big chunk of fish fillets, shrimps, scallops, chinese cabbages, tofu and mushrooms. It was sizzling hot when it came to our table, it was so good. All the seafood weren't over cooked at all and the texture of all ingredients just tastes so light and flavorful.
Sea Clams and Jelly Fish w/Asparagus in XO Sauce ($12.95)

The texture of sea clams and jelly fish were so Q yet not chewy at all. The XO sauce made the dish a hint of spicy and made you wish you had some rice there to go with it! This is the only dish we completely finished!

Live Lobster with Ginger & Scallion with Yee-Fu Noodle ($24.00)

Well, the live lobster was $9.00 per LB, I picked a 3 LBs one and asked them cook with ginger & scallion style, we also added Yee-Fu Noodles, that cost $6.00 extra! What's better than live lobster any way, this dish is so huge, after we finished our dinner, we felt like we haven't touched it yet.
Mango Pudding
Each of us got this mango pudding after meal. This is free of charge from the restaurant. I usually don't' eat desert or sweet but our friend ken said it was so good.
Bonjour French Pastry

Our friend Ken and his wife Hanae brought a cake from Bonjour French Pastry for Lynn's B-Day. This pastry is in Gardena not too far from where we work near Torrance. If you google it, you'll find a lot reviews for this place. It's so famous and good, even NBA star Kobe Bryant & other players and famous people come here all the time.

Black Forest Cake
Creamy and rich chocolate flavor of this cake was so good, even the person doesn't like to eat sweet or desert like me, liked it a lot too.

Ken and his wife Hanae. Ken and I are both in shipping business, we work a lot together. He's also from Taiwan and he's newlyweds about just a year. His wife Hanae is from Japan, very nice and polite lady!

Wish you the very best for your XX birthday. :)-
